Eco-friendly Weed Killers

A healthy lawn is your best defense against weeds. But when the weeds begin to take over consider using one of the eco-friendly weed killers instead of traditional weed killing products. The University of Iowa found that corn gluten meal prevents many seeds, good and bad, from sprouting. Gardeners report a 50% reduction in weeds after 3 years of spring and fall applications. As always, read and follow label directions carefully. Though a natural product it can interfere with sprouting of desirable plant seeds as well as weeds. Many gardeners feel the extra cost is a good investment in their lawns and the environment.
