Pruning Everbearing Raspberries
I have everbearing raspberries. Do I cut them to the ground in fall?
Everbearing raspberries bear the fall crop on new growth and the summer crop on the canes that bore fruit the previous fall. Fall pruning will eliminate the summer crop. It does have some benefits, though. Fall pruning reduces maintenance and results in a larger and earlier fall crop. If you want both a summer and fall crop do NOT prune all the canes down during the dormant season. Remove only those canes that bore fruit in the summer.
